IRC Solent Series

In the event there were just a couple of short showers but plenty of wind and sun. So WindGuru was proved right yet again and Bill Oakley on Condor managed to produce a couple of cracking courses. The first race was round the cans of the Eastern Solent whilst the second was a straight windward-leward course with added interest from the West going tide.

It was a shame that there were not more boats willing to venture into the Eastern Solent but there was some very competitive racing, particularly in Class 1 where Guy Prest in Tarka II sailed comandingly into first place in both races.

Good luck to all boats in a couple of weeks time for the final two days of racing.

The IRC Solent Series Championship is a series of seven one-day events held during the summer months in the Solent Area. The Championship is open to boats with a valid IRC certificate and an IRC rating between 0.820 and 1.360. The fleet will be split into 4 classes

There will be overall Series trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each class. TheC Solent Series Champion will be selected regardless of class, and will hold the overall trophy for the top boat in the Series. The Series Prize giving will be held at the Royal Yacht Squadron on 19th October 2013 at 3:00pm.
